Birth
The first ceremony of Balinese life takes place even before birth. Another ceremony takes place soon after the birth, during which the afterbirth is buried with appropriate offerings. The first major ceremony takes place halfway through the baby's first Balinese year of 210 days.

Religion

Over ninety percent of the Balinese are ostensibility Hindu. But for the Balinese, his religion is far more than Hinduism: it is an admixture of Hinduism and Buddhism, ancestor worship and animism, and it is not simply a religion, but way of life. It is as inseparable from everyday existence as is, say, economics.
